James Jack Ironmonger advert

An advertisement for James Jack, Ironmonger, Seedsman and Implement Agent, in Hyndford Road, Lanark.

When LADAS conducted research in Hyndford House, we uncovered invoices dating back to the 1860s. Jacks also had another premises near Lanark Train Station, which was formerly the Lanark Box Work Company (owned by Archibald Brown, and the first company to produce Mauchline ware with photographic scenes on each object).

My great grandfather Robert Wilson had a saddle shop in the same location with Jack in 1890 to 1891. I have a copy of the valuation record.
