Gladstone family birthplace

This postcard shows both William Ewart Gladstone and his grandfather’s house at Toftcombs, near Biggar. This is one of the cards sent to Miss Hutson at the Store House in Carstairs Junction.

Gladstone was a British statesman and Liberal politician, serving for 12 years as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, spread over four terms beginning in 1868.
