West Port, Lanark

Year: 1933

This is a view of the West Port which was posted on July 18th 1933. The writer of the card sent separately four stockings to Miss Ruby Aitken of Knowhead, Carluke.

The card was produced by the firm of Valentine of Dundee.

A point of interest regarding this card is the area where the tree is located. Nearby was a small cinema, which has disappeared but the building that succeeded it is now Lanark Museum. In the garden next to the Museum, some bits of film were found about 8 years ago, when the car parking space was put in. This site lies next to the lights.
