Carluke Collage

Year: 1930

An interesting collage card issued in the 1930s by Valentines of Dundee.

In the centre is a view of Carluke with a chimney in the far distance, which was the local colliery. The other views include Milton Lockhart House, which was transported stone by stone to Japan.

The metal bridge over the Clyde near Crossford to the Clyde Valley Estate is also pictured. It was built in the 19th century and a fine piece of engineering. The exact location of Jacob’s ladder is unknown. If anybody can provide further information, please leave a comment.

Jacob;s Ladder is still there but in a dangerous state. It is the fenced path you can see from Mauldslie Road, ust before Reynard’s nursery.
