View of Thankerton with Post Office

This postcard, produced for John Forrest of the Post Office in Thankerton, shows the contrast between the old and new houses in Thankerton. It clearly indicates that there was a sudden growth in prosperity in rural Clydesdale between 1890 and 1910. The excellent transport links enabled people to commute to work in Glasgow via trains such as the Tinto Express.
